kimep is looking for applicants for the following position:
job title: mental health counselor
division: student affairs
department: student affairs
position reports to: senior doctor
job purpose summary: facilitate and promote the cognitive, social and personal development of students.
key responsibilities and duties:
- provide counseling services for students;
- use appropriate counseling processes and techniques for individual and group sessions to meet developmental, preventive and remedial needs of students;
- work closely with staff and faculty regarding specific social/emotional needs of individual students to determine if social/emotional counseling is needed;
- initiate availability of groups and act as a facilitator of group counselling sessions;
- responsible for maintaining confidential records, tracking the progress of service users, and writing reports;
- assure that all students have equal access to the counseling program regardless of race, national origin, sex, religion or handicap;
- develop and proceed psychological diagnostics;
- develop workshops and seminars on various topics for internal publics on a regular basis;
- partner with mental health student organizations and kimep psychology department as needed;
- perform other duties, as might be assigned by supervisor.
minimum qualifications: masters degree in psychology or related major; license for counseling services conduct; fluent english and russian; applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of psychological services and observe relevant laws and policies that govern practice; demonstrate an awareness of the cultural differences and needs of students; participation in professional organizations and continuous seek to improve professional knowledge and skills.
