Role Purpose
The Marketplace Leader is responsible for leading marketplace performance and optimization initiatives in the assigned market, with a strong focus on balancing supply and demand, improving operational efficiency, and driving sustainable platform growth. This role acts as a senior individual contributor, taking ownership of strategic marketplace projects and cross-functional coordination without direct people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Marketplace Strategy & Optimization
- Lead marketplace optimization initiatives to ensure healthy supply–demand balance across the platform.
- Monitor and analyze key marketplace metrics including driver online rate, trip volume, fulfillment rate, rider wait time, and marketplace efficiency.
- Identify operational gaps, market trends, and growth opportunities through data analysis and propose actionable improvement plans.
- Drive initiatives to improve customer experience, driver productivity, and overall marketplace performance.
Driver Supply & Engagement
- Partner closely with Operations teams to ensure adequate driver supply during peak periods and across strategic service areas.
- Lead the design, execution, and evaluation of driver incentive schemes and engagement programs to improve driver activation, retention, and utilization.
- Analyze incentive program effectiveness and optimize spending efficiency based on business performance and market dynamics.
Marketplace Campaign Management
- Lead marketplace campaigns, surge strategies, and demand stimulation initiatives to maintain platform balance and growth.
- Collaborate with Growth and Marketing teams to align rider acquisition activities with driver supply readiness.
- Support pricing and promotional strategy execution to maximize marketplace efficiency and user experience.
Data Analytics & Risk Monitoring
- Utilize operational data and analytical tools to identify anomalies, inefficiencies, and fraudulent activities within the marketplace.
- Work with Product, Data, and Regional teams to enhance marketplace monitoring capabilities and anti-fraud initiatives.
- Develop reporting frameworks and operational insights to support data-driven decision making.
Cross-functional Leadership
- Act as a key stakeholder in cross-functional projects involving Operations, Product, Growth, and Regional teams.
- Lead strategic marketplace initiatives and contribute to process improvement and market expansion projects.
- Provide subject matter expertise and recommendations to support business planning and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Operations Management, or a related field.
- At least 3-4 years of experience in Marketplace Operations, Business Operations, Growth Strategy, or platform-based businesses.
- Experience in ride-hailing, delivery, logistics, e-commerce, or other on-demand platforms is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in data interpretation and performance analysis.
- Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex operational challenges independently.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly data-driven environment.
